Radio Silence

Many apologies for the inactivity as of late, I've recently started back working a day job. This has left me little free time throughout the week to dedicate to developing SereniTee further at the moment. However, I certainly haven't abandoned the project by any means.

I've fixed a few things here and there over the past couple of weeks and altered some of the existing functionality to cater to upcoming features and provide a little more flexibility for things to come.

Notable changes/fixes include:

  • 'Goal' placement code has been altered to account for different sized holes/varying ways to complete the hole (i.e. upcoming basketball hoop)
  • Added ball jumping functionality, this is still heavily a work in progress and subject to changes due to the it facilitating the trivialisation of a lot of the game's challenge. Possibly limited to easier difficulties or a par penalty to keep things relatively balanced.
  • Started a preliminary system for hole 'seeds' so players can share or save their favourite generated holes. Initially this was simply a concatenated string that amounted to what essentially was a string of prefab array indexes. However, I've again started a total rewrite of the hole generation code to account for a slightly 'truer' seeded pseudo-random generation.
  • The aforementioned rewrite has also given me a chance to clean up the slightly over-encumbered becoming game master script that handled a lot of this functionality. Trimming and clean-up is always an ongoing operation.
  • Infinite mode has been changed to 'Sandbox' mode, this mode will give the user the most control over how they play (inputting seeds, possibly altering gameplay settings on the fly).
  • New 9 & 18 hole modes are also a work in progress.
  • Fixed a bug causing animated tile objects not having their position updated correctly.
  • Fixed a bug that occurred when branch generation was happening too close to the end of the generated hole.

Rest assured I have no intentions of giving up, but progress may come along a little slower than usual, sadly.

Many Thanks,

David.
